At the beginning of the song, someone is talking, presumably the boy and it seems like he blames himself for the girl losing her memory, because he kept telling her to forget the bad memories and focus on the future. Ironically though, she can't even form new memories so she can't focus on the future either. He blames himself and feels guilty, and that is partly why he stays with her (and he loves her) but it's not really his fault, he couldn't have known. His advice to try and not focus on the past isn't bad advice. Unfortunately, this girl may have taken it a little too literally or like I said maybe she hit her head or something. As for the bad thing that happened, I think perhaps the girl was abused by her father (the man in the top hat at ) and eventually the boy got fed up and when he became an adult he took the girl and ran away with her, to save her from her abusive family. It may even be that the reason she has amnesia is because of the abuse, because her father hit her in the head or made her fall and hit her head. It reminds me of that girl in the yellow cardigan at the end of My R, the one that tried to commit suicide but was talked down, because of the bruises that apparently increased each time she went home.
