Whoever translated as "I can smell cooking from my hometown" was being highly euphemistic, I guess...The words are literally "suddenly I smell something off, like the stench of a gutter from my hometown". 😅
Yes, I think you probably have it. For one thing, the cooking just happens to smell like food from her hometown . I assume that most manbo-p songs have second meanings like this which make them make more sense: I don’t know if they’re based on untranslatable puns or something.
