I think this song is about grieving. We can see him he happy and jolly with the gal but then he suddenly gets burnt out and..she no longer is there. So he's really depressed she's gone, and at multiple instances, for example (done for a classmate that has died) well...implies she's dead. At the end we see him face him face his grief and "move on". And then it zooms out to adachi rei who seems to have been observing this entire ordeal, judging by the snapshot style of the MV aswell. Love how she sounds so robotic. Unfortunately I don't know much Japanese so I hope someone can look into it more!! It's a beautiful thing. There are a lot of things I've missed here.
