-one of the girls in specifically the one with the tied back hair and eye bags also makes an appearance in clay’s flashback. It’s hard to catch but it’s right around
) that Clay used bandages to cover her chest. Kalmia used Clay from the beginning that's why Clay is crying while she is running away, she knew it was all lie but she liked Kalmia's fake love. At the end, Kalmia escaped and Clay ended in jail.
After thinking about these lyrics a lot, I think that the idea that Kalmia was only using Clay to escape is wrong. That was definitely her main motivation, but Clay was also aware of this fact and let it happen due to his love for her. Starting from , she looks completely serious and with no trace of stringing Clay along. When they escape together, its because Clay wanted to and he was willing to sacrifice himself for her without hesitation. But you can definitely see hesitation from Kalmia, though. Look at

We can see that Clay was a young girl who was rejected by other girls () "Clay kissed me that's disgusting" , "cry" , "fool". Clay as a child is also holding a cross, probably because being gay is prohibited by religion so she wanted to be purified, I think that's why Kalmia looks like a demon (small horns and pointy ears)! Also we can see at (
.-while it isn’t a pv tidbit the blue haired lady aka mayra white is also named after a flower like kalmia. Mayra whites however are the opposite symbolizing purity while kalmia flowers symbolize treachery. She’s also the only one without interest In the female inmates meaning she is more sturdy (or just fuckin straight) for not being fooled so easily.
i used to think kalmia was faking being worried for clay here but now i realize she may just be surprised to figure out that she was seducing a woman all along. and it worked.
!! She loves him!! The look on her face screams pain and regret over knowing that she's about to lose him and that its her fault. The video even flashes "for me" as she looks at Clay for the last time; i.e. Guilt over knowing that he is sacrificing himself for her. The way that the lyrics are written are kind of vague, never referring to a first person, so while at first glance it seems to be from Clay's perspective, I think there are definitely elements of Kalmia's in there too. In the last chorus, the 「上っ面な愛を愛と呼ぶんなら如何せん僕がフールみたい」"If I call this superficial love "love", regrettably I'll look like a fool" could be from either of their perspectives, with Clay saying that he knows he's being used, and thinking it was real love would make him a fool, or with Kalmia saying that she'd be a fool if she let the "superficial love" she was pretending to have become real. But the kicker is in the「『話せないこともない』って言うからそこで誤審だと気付いたの」"If you say 『There’s nothing we can't talk about/You can tell me anything』I realize I’ve misjudged you". Clay is realizing that his judgement of her as only using him was wrong, and that shes a much more genuine person than he originally thought/ she was being genuine about her love for him (even if her desire to escape will still won out in the end). Or Kalmia is saying that she misjudged him as being someone she could easily use, but when he says these things to her she realizes that this was a misjudgement, as his devotion to her is clear and causes her to hesitate / realize her love for him too. In the line「邪見透かされて」"I see through your wickedness/ You see through my wickedness," Clay knew that she was using him, but he saw through her facade and got to know the girl underneath all the seduction and wickedness which she "wears on her sleeve"「邪纏う囚人 ファム・ファタール」 the two truly did love eachother, and rather than her escape coming about because of her cunning plan, it was due to the love that they shared.
(instrumental until )if this shallow love is what you call loveunfortunately, like a fooli realized id misjudged the situation“its not like i cant talk to you”if this shallow love is what you call loveunfortunately, like a heelid kiss you goodbye a thousand timessee through my wickednessjust like- like- a dog
we see MW and Anne stare into one anothers eyes because Anne was telling MW that she trusted them to gouge out her eyes for the formula since there needed to be DNA form a creature, and likely living creature (in this case a human) to complete it.
The full backstory is that MW was an escaped experiment that had been injured and found by Anne, as seen during the news report of Santa Teresa at . Although reluctent MW and Anne learn to live together and while Anne falls in love with MW, MW falls in love with singing and dancing
, as its very self congratulatory and quickly devolved into self depreciation, and seeing visions of Anne hits MW's breaking point. The reason? MW is going through deep levels of imposter syndrome combined w/ the guilt of leaving Anne, and it doesnt help that the elixir Anne cooked up to intentionally gives her striking similarities to Anne--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the Nico Nico Douga version of the mirror scene at , MW reverts back to their monster form showing also that MW cant fully escape from what they are adding that they feel self hatred, combined with the Youtube version the mirror scene is indicative that MW's uses the Teresa persona to justify that Anne wanted this and was ok with being abandoned which obvious doesnt work as ill explain below
the worms at are horsehair worms, which are parasitic worms that infect mantises and "possess" them to drown themselves in bodies of water to complete the parasite's reproductive cycle. very awesome biologically accurate yuri from nilfruits. thank you yuri jesus 👍
Now the real meat of the story and that involves Anne. If you're paying attention up to this point of the MV, outside of the intro, we do not see a present version of Anne. We see hazy, pastel visions of Anne and the one shot we do see of present Anna at has her head turned. Many would assume is that Anne had died, but in reality present Anne is now blind
