"why does our journey lead us nowhere." could mean that the child believed that satisfying others will get them to succeed but instead, they just became someone else's toy. of course the child found it terrifying because they don't even know what is their real personality is anymore. anything after that just shows the child spiraling into insanity because of stress and constantly believing that they have a real identity and it will show itself sometime soon. and finally, in the end, it shows the hands finally getting want they want. "somewhere inside the toy that was taken away." it could mean that the child lost a part of their identity so being a proper childhood, a sense of free will or even the capability of understanding their emotions.
