If you analyze the song more carefully, it's not really about the man thinking of suicide, but rather his failing attempt to save his lover. In the book "The Seduction of Thanathos" people are controlled by two elements: Thanathos who makes people incline to death, and Eros in which people seek life. The man's lover is controlled by Thanathos and he hates to see his lover so âcaptivatedâ and âin loveâ with death. He seems to be almost jealous of the reaper for holding his loverâs attention. And so in this shows how he tries to cover up her bloodshed eyes to prevent her from seeing the 'reaper' , the death calling her. She's not happy about it. She doesn't want to be saved, she wants him to join her. Nothing made her smile, except the point when he finally gave in (it's the scene in
